2026 Schedule Planning

We have been running tours (and scheduling for the next year) since 2014. 2025 was a unique year as it was the first year we didn't have a retail shop. The plan was to see what our (my) physical, mental and logistical capacity was in terms of tour quantity and locations
In 2025, we led more trips than we ever had (25, including 8 week-long tours) and introduced a new Vermont Tour and 2 new Quebec Tours.

Well, it turns out that 25 tours was a lot. Highlighting this was a leg injury I suffered in Vermont, that really had no time to heal as we still had many trips left in our 2025 season.
(Yes, hiring someone else to help run tours would be the smart idea, but the current version of 718 Outdoors is a one-person operation by design).
So, I wanted to reduce the tours we lead in 2026, but still offer some new and exciting adventures. It's looking like we will be doing the following (may be subject to change):

GAP/C&O (May)
Berkshires/Southern VT* (June)
Finger Lakes (July)
Vermont - North Loop (August)
Quebec - West Loop (September)
*New for 2026
In addition to the Tours listed above, the following 718 Routes/Areas will be available as a Self-Guided Tour:
Erie Canal
Catskills
Adirondacks
Quebec - East Loop
The plan is that we will rotate these 9 or so tours every season.
One in each month from April to October (2-day and 3-day trips)
We are still in the planning stage, but these are my thoughts as our 2025 season comes to a close.
Note:Ā For better or worse, I do not use AI to create my posts. This is all me, with my misspelling, poor grammar and tangential thoughts. I didn't get into this line of work to hand over my thoughts, expertise and experience to AI to spit out blog posts.
