Registration Opens January 5th, 2027. 9am (EST)

Intro: First and foremost, please read our Cancellation Policy. Also, this is technically a "digital download" purchase as my website either needs physical inventory, or its a digital download (a tour is neither). Feel free to ignore download link that will be sent.

Tour Description: Our 2027 GAP/C&O is a 6 day, 5 night self-supported bike camping trip starting in Pittsburgh and ending in Washington DC.

Pittsburgh to Washington, DC. Six days, two legendary trails, one loaded bike and a whole lot of miles in between. Our GAP/C&O Tour follows the Great Allegheny Passage out of Pittsburgh, climbs gradually through the mountains to the Eastern Continental Divide, then drops onto the C&O Canal Towpath for the long ride toward Washington. Along the way we’ll pass old railroad towns, tunnels, rivers, locks, forests and more trail history than you can possibly absorb while pedaling 50–60 miles a day. This is a real self-supported bike tour: you carry your gear, camp every night, eat constantly, wake up and do it again. We’ve been running this trip for years because it just works—the route is beautiful, the riding is challenging without being ridiculous, and finishing six days later at Union Station in DC feels like you actually went somewhere. If you’ve been waiting for the excuse to finally ride the GAP and C&O, this is it.

There is one train per day that goes direct to NYC to Pittsburgh ("The Pennsylvanian"), while there are a few other trains that involve a transfer in Washington DC. Hotels that I have stayed at and can recommend are the Traveler's Rest,  Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh, and The Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites (free breakfast!).

The trip ends on Saturday, June 12 at Union Station in Washington, DC. There are numerous trains back to NYC. We will arrive at Union Station roughly after 2pm.

If you are registering for this trip, you are highly encouraged make your travel plans soon thereafter and not wait until a week before the tour.
