Tour Description: Our 2027 Quebec Tour is a 9 day, 8 night self-supported bike camping trip with a Rest Day built in to Day 4. Starting and ending in St. Jerome, the route is a counterclockwise loop of rail trails and country roads.
Nine days, a loaded bike, a ridiculous amount of Quebec, and nowhere you need to be except the next campsite. We’ll start in St. Jérôme and spend the first few days rolling north on the P’tit Train du Nord before heading west and south through Mont-Laurier, Maniwaki, Blue Sea and Wakefield, eventually making our way toward Ottawa and back along the Ottawa River. Expect forests, lakes, small towns, swimming, French signs, convenience-store snacks, campgrounds, long summer evenings and a rest day when your legs will probably be pretty happy to have one. Most days fall somewhere between 30 and 60 miles, so there’s plenty of riding without turning the trip into an endurance contest. This is a real self-supported bike tour: you carry your stuff, ride somewhere new every day, sleep outside, eat a lot, and come home having seen a huge chunk of Quebec at exactly the right speed.

Logistics: The Tour leaves from the Old Train Station Plaza at 9am on Saturday, August 7. Driving seems to be the preferred method of travel, as most people will arrive the day before and stay locally at a hotel in St. Jerome. The train station allows for long term parking, as do most hotels.
Taking the train is tricky, as bikes are not allowed on the Amtrak train ("The Adirondack") from NYC to Montreal. In the past, people have taken the train with a bike to the last stop in New York (Rouses Point), and then ridden north to Montreal or at least the southern extent of Montreal's commuter network.
Flying to Montreal is an option, as bike box storage is allowed at the airport. There is a EXO Commuter Train form Montreal to the start point in St. Jerome.
Taking a bus involves some luck, as each carrier has rules about transporting bikes.
Please note that getting into Canada requires a passport. Not having your documentation in order is not grounds for a refund.
If you are registering for this trip, you are highly encouraged make your travel plans soon thereafter and not wait until a week before the tour.

Notes: French is spoke exclusively in Quebec. Many people in the group will have some French experience, so it's not usually an issue. Locals generally speak some English, but its very respectful (and appreciated) to attempt to communicate in their language.
Many camp showers use $1 or $2 coins. Its a good idea to have $40-$80 of Canadian Currency on you during the trip (as some restaurants are cash only)
Swimming is available each night except Night's 2 and 7.
